Sunkids Royal Pines

Utilising a variety of natural materials, we were able to create a functional, attractive, and unique playscape for this Benowa childcare.

In choosing to feature natural stone products in many of our installations, we aim to provide essential tactile and sensory engagement. That’s why at Sunkids Royal Pines we introduced sandstone crazy paving to the concrete bike track, a yarning circle formed by cut sandstone blocks, and a combination of sandstone boulders and natural log edging to the garden, sandpit, and mudpit. In addition to sandstone, the textured concrete bike track also features large bluestone stepper inlays which were seamlessly integrated to provide an attractive contrast.

Featuring hardwood timber throughout, this centre displays this beautiful natural product in innovative ways. The large timber deck takes centre stage and provides opportunity for collaboration and performance, the tepee and natural log seating areas stimulate the imagination, while the natural log misting poles, arbours, and bespoke timber rills provide waterplay elements at the push of a button.

The centre also introduces the opportunity for interaction between both flora and fauna with intelligently designed subtropical garden beds and the introduction of a bespoke walk-in bird aviary. Our hand-picked tree and plant species were chosen specifically for their strong suitability to the subtropical conditions of the Gold Coast and provide a glossy rainforest aspect throughout. To round off our playscape’s sense for adventure, our bespoke walk-in bird aviary fosters interaction, respect, and appreciation for wildlife.
